I want to Decrease Labor Prep Time

Although the cost of labor varies, the steps to set-up vertical or horizontal slab gels don't. When all the steps are considered, it adds up to a time-consuming process:

  • Gel plates/trays need to be cleaned, assembled and supported.
  • Acrylamide or agarose needs to be prepared and poured between or onto prepared plates or trays.
  • Prior to sample loading, lab techs must remove or wash combs.
  • Lab techs must make electrophoresis buffers.

Not only are these tasks tedious, if technician #1 uses slightly different techniques or timing compared to technician #2, then the results for identical samples could vary. After the electrophoresis separation is complete, the labor continues with:

  • Gel removal.
  • Staining.
  • Documentation.
  • Analysis.

The AdvanCE™ FS Nucleic Acids Analyzer significantly decreases labor time and nearly eliminates preparation time. That frees-up valuable researcher/technician time for more important activities such as result interpretation or experiment planning.

In a typical run, both the sample plate handling and the face time in front of the AdvanCE™ FS Nucleic Acids Analyzer will take under five minutes. After the instrument is set up for daily runs (loading marker plate, filling deep well buffer tray and placing gel on the HPLC pump), all the technician has to do is load the samples onto the instrument and press buttons to execute operational software's pre-set methods.

Some labs prefer to use slightly different instrument run methods, and these are easily saved and accessed as well. Subsequent electrophoresis runs draw gel and conditioning solution automatically from the HPLC pump, so the technician doesn't have to worry about using fresh gel. Analysis of results is also streamlined using PROSize™ Analytical Software.

The following design features of the AdvanCE™ FS Nucleic Acids Analyzer decrease labor and preparation time to results:

  1. Automated filling of capillaries by HPLC pump.
  2. Superior instrument design to handle up to 3 x 96 well plates at one time (288 samples).
  3. Analytical software package capable of automated analysis and report generation.
